Healing Old Wounds With New Stitches
WE HAVE MOVED TO A NEW FIRST FLOOR LOCATION!!!

Hurricane Ian made landfall in Southwest Florida on Wednesday, September 28, at 3pm as a powerful Category 4 storm.
Maximum sustained winds were around 150 mph along with life-threatening storm surges as it hit the southwest coast severely damaging homes and businesses.
With the collaboration of United Way and Donations from Dos Sabores Restaurant and Sabor a Mexico OILE/Healing Stitches, and United Way, were able to fulfill the needs of the North Ft. Myers community and Bokeelia residents! Great collaboration with volunteers!!! Thank you to Everyone who made this project possible! We have a great community!

Economic Self-Sufficiency
We are thrilled to report that 2 of our OILE students are now homeowners. They credit the classes for giving them the tools (budget management, communication, and empowerment) for making this possible.
In 2020 our students mastered four different types of face masks and produced over 10,000 masks for our community as partners with the SW FL Face mask Crew. Our students were selected by Lee Memorial Health System to make specifically designed masks for their staff. We have donated masks to United Way agencies, Planned Parenthood, Harry Chapin Food Bank, and many other medical and front-line businesses. None of this would be possible without the dedication, the skills, and the kindness of our students.
Working with the SW FL Face Mask Crew to give back to their community has been beneficial to our students and to the community. Being part of such an important project has brought us all together.
Students developed a phone tree that allows each student to contact emergency preparedness resources, shelter information, and emergency information.
Three graduates are now US Citizens, and two students are eligible to take the Citizenship test once these are resumed.
